This study aims to examine the resistance strategies employed by female students at the Islamic Azad University, Shiraz Branch, in confronting gender inequalities within their families. Focusing on female students of the Islamic Azad University, Shiraz Branch, this research explores how they deal with intra-family gender inequality using a qualitative method and the grounded theory approach of Strauss and Corbin. A total of 22 open codes (subcategories) and 13 axial codes (main categories) were extracted. The participants included 15 female students who had experienced gender inequality within their families. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using the three-step coding process of open, axial, and selective coding. The results revealed that women adopt 13 main resistance strategies in response to gender inequalities: displaying compliance, objecting to discrimination, challenging gender stereotypes, utilizing social support, selective distancing from family, concealing information in family relationships, overt resistance to gender discrimination, employing explicit violence, empowerment, suicidal mechanisms, withdrawal from the family environment, confronting unjust behavior, and coping with financial neglect. The core category identified in the study was “Escape from Patriarchal Domination.”The findings emphasize that female students actively and effectively resist gender-based discrimination within their families, rather than merely accepting it.
