Objective: The present study adopts an analytical-descriptive approach to examine the extent and nature of Sa'di's influence by the teachings of Nahj al-Balagha. Furthermore, this research seeks to elucidate the position of Nahj al-Balagha as an inspirational source in the formation of Persian didactic literature.
Method: The research method is based on the analysis of texts and intertextual evidence from Nahj al-Balagha (including its sermons, letters, and maxims) and their comparison with selected passages from Sa'di's Golestan, Boostan, ghazals, and moral admonitions. In this process, efforts have been made to rigorously evaluate the accuracy of the comparisons and citations by referring to authoritative literary and historical sources.
Results: The findings indicate that Sa'di was influenced by Alavid thought not only at a conceptual level but also in linguistic layers, ethical imagery, and educational perspective. This influence, rather than being a superficial imitation, represents a creative reinterpretation of the fundamental concepts of Nahj al-Balagha within the framework of Persian language and literary taste, which has enriched the ethical themes in his works.
Conclusions: The research concludes that the connection between Nahj al-Balagha and Sa'di's works is structural and profound, playing a fundamental role in shaping the ethical system of Persian literature. Accordingly, it can be asserted that Nahj al-Balagha has left a lasting and deep impact not only in the realm of religion and ethics but also within the broader scope of Persian literature.
