After humans, animals are among the most important creatures whose rights have captured the attention of human societies more than any other creature. One of the issues that has received special attention in the Holy Quran is the issue of animals, which, considering their diverse range of domestic and wild animals, birds, insects, aquatic animals, and reptiles, has been looked at from different perspectives, such as the nature of creation, practical benefits, miraculous aspects (such as the she-camel of Saleh (AS) and the cow of the Children of Israel), and positive aspects for the resurrection (such as the donkey of the Prophet Uzair (AS). In a general classification, animals are divided into three categories in the blessed Surah Al-Nur: 1- Reptiles: ﴿Whoever walks on his belly﴾ (An-Nur: 45); 2- Two-legged animals: ﴿Whoever walks on two legs﴾ (An-Nur: 45); 3- Four-legged animals: ﴿Whoever walks on all fours﴾ (An-Nur/45) and 4- Another group of animals that joins this classification are aquatic animals, such as fish and whales. In the present study, we aim to examine and analyze the linguistic, rhetorical, lexical and possibly epistemological aspects of this highly meaningful and broad-ranging word by mentioning some of the verses that contain the word "animals".
