Acceptable Articles

The University of Lorestan Press publishes articles in various fields of humanities. All these articles are scholarly, research-based, and of high quality. Both qualitative and quantitative research is accepted, but it is essential that articles be innovative, creative, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their respective fields.

Article Writing Guidelines

Given the specialized nature and academic ranking of university journals, this section emphasizes the structure and composition of research articles. However, other types of articles may be accepted and published at the discretion of the editorial board. In addition to research articles, review articles, theoretical articles, letters to the editor, and others may also be published in journals with an academic-research ranking. Other types of journals (academic-promotional and specialized) may accept a wider variety of article types.

It is evident that all types of articles share common and distinct features. These features generally relate to their content and structure. This section focuses on research articles due to their significance, but common characteristics of other articles are also addressed. Most sources describing article types emphasize research articles, as does the present document.

Before submitting an article to the University of Lorestan Journals, consider the following writing and formatting guidelines:

Article Content

  1. The content of the article must be relevant to the journal’s subject area.
  2. The majority of articles in each issue should be research articles that report specific studies.
  3. The article must not have been previously submitted or published in any domestic or international journal. Authors must refrain from submitting the article to another journal for four months after submission and track their article status via the online system or by contacting the journal’s internal manager.

Article Structure

Every research article generally follows this structure:

  • Title
  • Author(s) and Institutional Affiliation(s)
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Literature Review
  • Methodology
  • Findings
  • Discussion and Conclusion
  • References

Each of these sections is described below.

Title of the Article

The first page of the article should include:

  • Title
  • Author(s) and their Institutional Affiliation(s)
  • Abstract
  • Keywords

The title must be precise, concise, and engaging to attract readers while clearly reflecting the core idea of the article, including its variables, issue, and relationships. Ideally, the title should be between 10 to 15 words. It should neither be too short (which may cause ambiguity) nor too long (which may discourage readers).

Avoid unnecessary words in the title. For instance, phrases like “A Study on” should be avoided unless referring to a meta-analysis. If the article is derived from a thesis or research project, the title does not need to exactly match that of the thesis or project.

Author(s) and Institutional Affiliation(s)

After the title, the names of the authors should be listed along with their institutional affiliations. It is recommended to provide the corresponding author’s email address in a footnote to facilitate communication with readers. If an author is not affiliated with any institution, their highest academic degree should be mentioned.

The order of author names should reflect their level of contribution and be mutually agreed upon. If all authors contributed equally, their names may be listed alphabetically. Titles such as Dr., Professor, Engineer, etc., should not be included.

Abstract

Different types of abstracts are used for different article types. The following describes the suitable abstract types:

1. Structured Abstract (Extended Abstract)

Used for research articles, including:

  • Objective
  • Methodology
  • Findings
  • Innovation (Value)
  • Conclusion

Word count: 700 to 1200 words (recommended as a single paragraph). This abstract should provide sufficient details so that reading the full article is unnecessary.

2. Indicative Abstract

Used for review articles and non-research-based articles. This type summarizes the main topics discussed rather than the discussions themselves. It does not replace the need to read the full article. Word count: 75 to 150 words.

3. Structured Indicative Abstract

A combination of the two previous types, especially recommended for theoretical (conceptual) articles.

4. Extended Abstract

Designed for indexing in databases like Scopus and Thomson Reuters. It is recommended that all specialized journals adopt this format.

Keywords

Keywords must be directly extracted from the abstract and represent core concepts in the study. It is recommended that keywords be listed alphabetically and consist of 5 to 7 terms.

Introduction

The introduction should contain:

  • Background information
  • Problem statement
  • Main objective
  • Research questions or hypotheses
  • Literature review summary

These elements should be arranged logically to provide a clear overview of the article.

Literature Review

If the literature review is too extensive for the introduction, it can be presented as a separate section. It should:

  • Provide a background on the research topic.
  • Review previous research in the field.
  • Identify research gaps.
  • Use analytical and critical methods for comparison.

Methodology

This section should describe:

  • Research design and approach
  • Population and sample
  • Data collection tools
  • Data analysis methods

If the study includes experiments, this section must explain independent and dependent variables, how they are controlled, and how data is measured and analyzed.

Findings, Discussion, and Conclusion

This section presents collected data with tables, charts, and statistical tests, followed by:

  • Interpretation and discussion of results
  • Comparison with previous studies
  • Research limitations
  • Suggestions for future studies

References

References should be formatted according to University of Lorestan’s citation guidelines.

Article Submission Requirements

  • The article should be in Word 2010 format, using 12-point Bzar font, with 3 cm margins, and 15–25 pages (7,000–10,000 words).
  • Submission is done through University of Lorestan’s journal portal: api.lu.ac.ir.
  • Submit two files:
    • Full article (without author details, including Persian and English abstracts)
    • Separate author information file
