The present study was conducted with the aim of designing and validating an internship implementation model with an emphasis on integrating experiential learning and cognitive apprenticeship. This study employed a sequential exploratory mixed‑methods approach. In the qualitative phase, the dimensions and components of the model were extracted through document analysis, theoretical review, and semi‑structured interviews with 20 experts. In the quantitative phase, the initial model was validated using a researcher‑made questionnaire administered to 250 internship instructors, mentor teachers, and educational trainers at Farhangian University. Data were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling, and one‑sample t‑tests.
The final model consisted of seven main dimensions (objectives, educational content, guidance strategies, evaluation, content organization, learning opportunities, and organization of opportunities) and 28 components. Guidance strategies, with a path coefficient of 0.92, had the greatest impact on the overall model. The fit indices (χ²/df = 2.18, RMSEA = 0.058, CFI = 0.97) indicated a desirable model fit.
The proposed model demonstrated strong validity, reliability, and practical applicability, and can serve as a scientific and operational framework for organizing internships at Farhangian University and within Iran’s teacher education system.
