Background and Objective:Given the natural inclination and effort of humans to benefit from the blessing of children, it is evident that infertile couples resort to various modern therapeutic methods, which are significant advancements of humanity. With the prevalence of these methods, one of the needs of Muslim couples is to understand the rulings regarding these methods. According to the general principle, Islam has provided guidance on all actions and needs of its followers, and the issue of infertility treatment is no exception. This article examines the processes related to fertility preparation. Since obtaining a male sperm sample is one of the most basic diagnostic procedures in the treatment process, it is common among all couples and presents one of the most prevalent challenges.
Method: This research is conducted using a descriptive-analytical method based on library studies and analysis of scientific articles, examining the jurisprudential foundations and Islamic views related to withdrawal (coitus interruptus) and masturbation.
Findings: Reports and statements from infertile couples indicate that in some medical centers in Iran, obtaining a sperm sample from the husband sometimes occurs without the involvement and cooperation of the wife, using methods such as masturbation or self-pleasure.
Results: Considering the religious prohibition of this act in Islamic law—regarding its consequential effects—this study concludes that, based on the therapeutic outcomes for couples, those utilizing the withdrawal method have had greater success in treating infertility compared to those who resorted to masturbation.
Keywords: Infertility, masturbation, withdrawal(Azl), sampling, sperm, sperm analysis.
