New researches in Islamic humanities studies

A comparative analysis of educational models in Islamic jurisprudence and modern psychology with a view from revelational teleology to experiential learning processes.

Abstract
Objective: This study conducts a comparative examination of the foundations, principles, and educational methods in two frameworks Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and modern psychology in order to clarify the relationship between revelatory teachings and empirical findings in education and to identify their points of convergence and divergence. It also explores the potential synergy between these approaches in developing an effective model for contemporary human education.
Method: The study employs a descriptive analytical method with a comparative approach. Data were collected through documentary and library research based on juristic sources and educational psychology texts and analyzed using an ijtihadi comparative framework. Key concepts, foundations, and educational methods in both fields were extracted and systematically compared to identify their similarities and differences.
Results: The findings show that educational fiqh is grounded in monotheistic and fitra‑oriented principles and views the ultimate aim of education as nearness to God, whereas educational psychology is mainly centered on empiricism and humanism. While fiqh emphasizes duty‑orientation and psychology focuses on the laws of learning, overlaps appear in methods such as role modeling and habit formation. This indicates that despite epistemological differences, some educational strategies in both approaches can converge.
Conclusions: The results indicate that these two educational systems are not fundamentally in conflict and can function as complementary: psychology offers tools for understanding and facilitating learning, while educational fiqh provides value‑oriented direction and purpose. The study proposes a hybrid model that integrates scientific methods with revelatory aims in Islamic education, contributing to the development of a more comprehensive educational framework in Islamic societies.
