Reason is one of the noblest human powers that can understand generalities and truths and distinguish humans from animals. On the other hand, love is also considered one of the fundamental issues on which the foundation of existence is laid and the excitement that has taken over the entire existence is due to this motivation. The discussion of reason and love has always been one of the topics that has always attracted the attention of great sages and mystics such as Ibn Sina and Najm al-Din al-Razi. Ibn Sina considers perception and knowledge to be prior to love and the first stage for the journey and conduct; because until the human being gains knowledge of his beloved, his journey does not begin and without perception, passion and love cannot be created. On the other hand, Najm al-Din introduces the scope of love far beyond the narrowness of reason and then deals with the rational opposition to the theory of the unity of reason, the wise and the reasonable. He aims to discuss rationally in the manner of theologians and philosophers, and in intuitive understanding and expression of revelations, he aims to uphold the side of love, like an anti-philosophical mystic, using a vocabulary rich in metaphor, irony, and allegory. In this article, we aim to analyze the views of these two sages on reason and love.
