Abstract
The main concern of this article is to explain Hafez's ethical approach; individual or social. In fact, he is not just an important part of Persian literature, but over the centuries he has become one of the intellectual and cultural sources and spiritual and moral supports of Persian speakers. Therefore, considering the importance of ethics and the necessity of analyzing and finding the roots of the ethical situation of his time, in an analytical-descriptive manner and by referring to Hafez's poems, it is necessary to diligently find out which type of ethical schools and principles this Hafez, or as some cleverly put it, this historical memory of ours, is promoting and propagating through his poems and thoughts, and also, is this ethical school, whatever it is, individual or social? In fact, the novelty and innovation of the present article lies in explaining and proving whether Hafez's ethics are individual or social and the difference between these two categories. The conclusion is that: in love for people (which Hafez's poems are full of), the important thing is the emotional basis of social ethics, and love for people, in itself, does not have intrinsic value. Therefore, Hafez does not recognize any limits or boundaries in the category of "social ethics" and emphasizes its observance for "everyone".
