Transcending the Actor's Body in the Process of Bodily Thinking; An Interdisciplinary Study of Art and Philosophy

Abstract
Kant first presents the senses as key and pivotal gates for valid knowledge in the world of reason based on philosophizing and mentions a kind of transcendental knowledge. On the other hand, the actor's body has always had a knowledge-creating and transcendental presence on the stage or the screen of the cinema. This article attempts to investigate the transcendental aspects of the body in the thought of Kant and some thinkers after him with the approach of Heidegger's fundamental question, and to pay attention to the process of bodily thinking of the actor in the dramatic world in the light of Hegelian self-consciousness, Brentano's intentionality and Husserl's intuition, as well as the actor's transcendence from Grotowski's perspective. Therefore, while presenting some passages from body-centered theories after Kant, it attempts to examine the quality of the body's presence and meaning-making in these theories.
