Method: Drawing on the French School of comparative literature, this research analyzes and compares the shared images and motifs found in the works of the two poets. It also investigates the underlying causes of these similarities, including intuitive convergence of thought, historical simultaneity, shared religious background, and the poets engagement with the rich Islamic Iranian cultural tradition. Results: The results indicate that while both poets employ similar motifs and images to portray the transience of the world, their modes of depiction differ significantly. Ferdowsi, aiming to instill ethical and philosophical principles in the general public, creates brief, vivid, forceful, and emotionally stirring images. In contrast, al‑Mutanabbi writing within a courtly environment and seeking the favor of his patrons—tends to craft more complex and multilayered imagery. Conclusions: The study concludes that in some cases al‑Mutanabbi appears to have been influenced by Iranian philosophical traditions, while the Shahnameh represents an authentic reflection of this indigenous wisdom. Thus, the similarities between the two poets’ works, in addition to shared cultural foundations, may also point to deeper intellectual connections between Iranian and Arabic traditions. هدف: این پژوهش با هدف بررسی تطبیقی حکمت در شعر فردوسی و متنبّی، به‌ویژه در تصویر و مضمون «بی‌اعتباری دنیا»، انجام شده است تا وجوه اشتراک و افتراق شیوه‌های تصویرپردازی و بیان مفاهیم حکمی در آثار این دو شاعر مشخص شود. روش پژوهش: این مطالعه با تکیه بر رویکرد ادبیات تطبیقی بر اساس مکتب فرانسه انجام شده و با تحلیل و مقایسه تصاویر و مضامین مشترک در اشعار دو شاعر، زمینه‌های شکل‌گیری این شباهت‌ها، از جمله توارد خاطر، هم‌زمانی تاریخی، اشتراکات مذهبی و بهره‌گیری از منابع فرهنگ اسلامی ـ ایرانی بررسی شده است. یافته‌ها: نتایج نشان می‌دهد که هر دو شاعر برای بیان بی‌اعتباری دنیا از مضامین و تصاویر مشترکی بهره گرفته‌اند، اما شیوه تصویرپردازی آنان متفاوت است. فردوسی با هدف انتقال آموزه‌های اخلاقی و حکمی به عموم مردم، تصاویری کوتاه، روشن و تأثیرگذار می‌آفریند؛ در حالی‌که متنبّی در فضای دربار و برای جلب رضایت ممدوح، به تصاویر پیچیده‌تر و چندلایه گرایش دارد. نتیجه‌گیری: مهم‌ترین نتیجه این پژوهش آن است که در برخی موارد می‌توان از تأثیرپذیری متنبّی از حکمت و اندیشه ایرانی سخن گفت و شاهنامه را بازتاب اصیل این سنت حکمی دانست؛ ازاین‌رو شباهت‌های موجود میان اشعار این دو شاعر علاوه بر عوامل مشترک فرهنگی، می‌تواند نشان‌دهنده پیوندهای عمیق میان سنت‌های فکری ایرانی و عربی باشد.
